This Week in Precast (blog)

For architects specifying architectural precast, I often note that the building of the forms often take the skills of a cabinet maker. Manufacturers of architectural precast have a long-standing tradition of attention to detail and quality that makes A1 Certified precast some of the finest quality building products to be found. Precast will not only clad the building, but do it with beauty and elegence when designers take advantage of the possabilities it offers.

The precast industry is recognizing this craftsmanship with a new awards program.  The Sidney Freedman Craftsmanship Awards program recognizes PCI certified plants for excellence in manufacturing and craftsmanship of architectural precast (A1 or CA) and glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) structures and individual components. Any kind, size, or type of structure and/or element may be entered. The Craftsmanship Awards program focuses on issues such as forming, overcoming obstacles to production, finishing and quality of individual architectural precast/prestressed units and GFRC rather than architectural design. Click here for more details. The deadline for all entries is March 16, 2012. Contact Sid Freedman  with any questions.

These awards recognize architectural excellence in crafting individual architectural precast concrete or GFRC units. The Craftsmanship Awards focuses on issues such as forming, overcoming obstacles to production and quality of individual components rather than architectural design or finished structures.
