Seminars

Engineers and design professionals will gain a solid understanding of prestressed concrete design by utilizing a specific design example. The PCI Design Handbook, 6th Edition, will be explored as a tool for designing precast and prestressed concrete structures. Hosted at a precast plant, this interactive seminar will integrate a plant tour, providing participants with a clear understanding of design concepts and fabrication consideration.
The seminar is designed for architects interested in architectural precast concrete design - including aesthetics, detailing, design economy, loads, sustainability considerations and other architectural precast concrete issues. Integrated architectural and structural solutions, including precast structures and frames and parking structures are also discussed.
Attendees will see how precasters execute designs and engineering details in the manufacturing plant. They will observe the entire precast and prestressed manufacturing process from engineering and connections, forms set-up, casting and finishing. Attendees will gain a better understanding of precast and prestressed capabilities and related quality issues. To learn more about precast plant tours, email Marty McIntyre.
A new parking seminar helps architects designing parking structures with material selection, connection details, cost effective design and aesthetic inspiration. Sign-up for this free seminar.
The a short technical seminar will be offered first Tuesday of each month during 2011 at various locations around Illinois and Wisconsin. For more information on where the current seminars will take place, check the Technology Tuesday registration page.
